We pledge...

  1. To enjoy the work of bringing Disc Golf, the sport we love, to as many people as we can, sharing the physical and mental benefits, and making lots of new friends along the way!

  2. To provide equal opportunity for everyone to play disc golf, whether that be through design, through player development, through community engagement, or otherwise.  Everyone should have the chance to enjoy this great sport! We're so committed to this point that we've included it in our company's Human Rights Policy.

  3. To value the contributions that everyone makes when bringing a new course to life. It takes a lot of people, a lot of dedication, and a lot of heart to go from dreams to a grand opening!

  4. To remember where we came from, and what it took to get here. We all start somewhere and walk our own paths, but today we're here walking together, making it happen!

  5. To put everything we can into each and every course we have the privilege to work on; we thank you for trusting us to bring the vision to life!

The Honourable Harvest

We at Fluent Disc Sport embrace the concept of the honourable harvest in every meaningful way we can, asking permission of the environment, listening to the guidance of the land, and working in partnership with wildlife to create courses and experiences that will thrive well into the future.

The land that we have the privilege to work with is not simply a resource that we work on... it’s a home to many others and, with them, we strive to find a balance. The courses we build are a gift to us from the land and its inhabitants, and in accepting this gift, we also accept the responsibility of giving back in meaningful ways, of taking only what we need, and then using all that we take in ways that promote a healthy environment.

Some of the ways we do this are:

  • Maintaining buffers to established wildlife corridors,

  • Reusing felled trees, limbs and other foliage in the construction of course elements,

  • Carrying out work during times of the year that will disturb the environment the least where possible,

  • Using species identification, and an understanding of their light, moisture, and wind tolerances to promote healthy forests during and well after course work,

  • Working to mitigate the effect that changing traffic patterns will have on the land itself,

  • Identifying native species of plant, shrub, and tree for use in replanting to support existing ecosystems.

Giving Back

As a company, we encourage our team members to give back to the community in whatever way they can, and in whatever way feels meaningful to them. And as a team, we will do everything we can to support their efforts! It can be as simple as volunteering to help at a local disc golf tournament, or investing our time and knowledge into improving the sport as a whole. Check out some of the volunteer work we’re doing...

Kevin Farley - PDGA Course Design Working Group

PDGA LogoKevin was added as a member to the PDGA’s Course Design Working Group in 2023, a team tasked with helping to improve disc golf course design through education and resources for designers.

Joining this team was a great honour for Kevin; other members have had distinguished careers in disc golf and course design! Kevin hopes not only to earn this position through his hard work and commitment to the group’s goals, but also to learn from his peers and bring that experience to bear for our own communities and clients.

Volunteering his time on this working group, Kevin’s goal is to spearhead new policies within the PDGA to help encourage safer designs and more responsible growth in the course design profession. He also hopes to facilitate better protections for landowners who invest in new courses through education on insurance and liability, and eventually requirements for designers to carry proper insurance for their work.

Disc Golf for Schools Programme

The Fluent team wants to see more junior players dragging their parents out to the local disc golf course to play, and even entering local tournaments or representing their regions further abroad! The best way to get more children playing is to make the sport more accessible to them. Even just knowing about the sport and starting with something like putting games can be enough to convince children it’s worth looking for other places to play.

Muskoka MontessoriIn an effort to "grow the sport", Fluent will donate a basket and educational materials to schools to help integrate disc golf into the curriculum, and get more children playing both in class and during break times. We’ll be focusing on getting single baskets installed in safe spaces, along with a sign outlining several simple group games that groups or classes can play together.

Contact Fluent today to discuss a basket for your school!
