Disc Golf (noun) - "a game in which a concave plastic disc is thrown into each of a series of metal baskets situated on an outdoor course, the object being to complete the course using the fewest possible throws."
Disc golf was first recorded to have taken place in Bladworth, Saskatchewan in 1926, but didn't really catch on until the 1960's thanks to Wham-O discs! It began with "tonal" courses, or courses where you threw at targets that made a noise when struck. 1975 saw the invention of the Disc Golf "Pole Hole" (aka, the modern basket target), and the beginning of the explosion of the sport. Fast forward from the original 3 courses at Toronto - ON, Rochester - NY, and Berkley - CA, to today, and there are now more than 9000 courses across Canada and the United States!
