Fluent Disc Sport Human Rights Policy

Purpose Fluent Disc Sport is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and equitable environment for all employees, clients, contractors, partners, and stakeholders. Disc golf is more than a sport; it is a gateway to physical and mental well-being, community building, and connection with nature. At Fluent Disc Sport, we are dedicated to making these benefits accessible to as many people as possible by integrating inclusivity into our design philosophy and business practices. This policy outlines our dedication to upholding the principles enshrined in the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Canadian Human Rights Act, ensuring every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Scope This policy applies to all aspects of Fluent Disc Sport’s operations, including but not limited to employment practices, client relations, course design projects, partnerships, and public interactions. It is applicable to all employees, independent contractors, volunteers, partners, and anyone acting on behalf of the organisation.

Policy Statement Fluent Disc Sport is committed to:

  1. Preventing Discrimination and Harassment: We strictly prohibit discrimination or harassment based on race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), sex (including pregnancy and breastfeeding), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status, disability, or any other protected ground under the Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Codes.

  2. Promoting Inclusion: We strive to create inclusive spaces where everyone can participate fully and equally, regardless of their background or abilities. However, we acknowledge that disc golf is not by its nature a fully inclusive sport. While we will strive to make our own facilities fully inclusive for our partners, clients, and employees, we may not be able to achieve this level of inclusivity for every client project. To address this, we have created our Disc Golf Discovery Zones as part of our effort to bring disc golf to more players in the spirit of inclusivity. Our commitment to inclusion also extends to embracing the spirit of the Honourable Harvest, ensuring our designs respect the land and its inhabitants while making the sport welcoming for all.

  3. Accommodating Needs: We recognise the duty to accommodate individuals to the point of undue hardship. This includes providing necessary adjustments for disabilities, religious practices, and other protected needs.

  4. Respecting Human Rights: All policies, practices, and procedures at Fluent Disc Sport will align with the principles of human rights, ensuring fair treatment for all. Respect for human rights aligns naturally with respect for the environment. By working harmoniously with the land and considering the needs of all communities, Fluent Disc Sport ensures our projects honour both human dignity and ecological balance.
